Inflation in France remains at 6.2%.
Inflation continues unabated. The increase in consumer prices in France reached 6.2% over one year in November, as in October, according to the provisional estimate published this Wednesday morning by Insee.
It is still fuelled by the surge in energy prices (+18%), even if the increase has slowed due to the turnaround in oil prices. Food prices continued to rise this month by 12.2% year-on-year and manufactured prices accelerated (+4.4%). Services, on the other hand, decelerated (+3%).
Because of the reduction of the rebate at the pump from 30 to 10 centimes per litre of fuel in mid-November, “we could have expected an increase in inflation”, observes Sylvain Bersinger, an economist at Asterès, who notes two other positive points: the increase in prices, in monthly variation, fell from 1 % to 0.4 %. In addition, industrial producer prices fell by 1.1% in October.
