French SMEs continue to invest despite uncertainty
“After the cold sweats caused by the war in Ukraine, inflation and the energy crisis in 2022, “the year 2023 is finally turning out better than expected for French SMEs and other even smaller companies”, according to Philippe Mutricy, Director of Research at Bpifrance. But there is growing concern about weak demand.”
“In fact, 40% of the managers of these small and medium-sized businesses have identified this as the number-one risk this autumn, well ahead of the lack of skills (18%), according to a survey carried out at the beginning of September by Bpifrance Le Lab and Rexecode. “The state of mind of SMEs is in line with the evolution of the French economy,” says Philippe Mutricy. After the unexpected surge of the second quarter (+0.5%), economic activity is slowing down in France and in the euro zone.”
